My name is Kaila Rain Thomas, I'm the granddaughter of a Black Liberation Leader, a Public Historian and training Information Professional. Welcome to A Grandfather's Legacy Project! I'm so excited to share this with you. I've been working on this website for months, keeping it a secret from nearly everyone in my life- my family, friends, colleagues and mentors. Now it's finally time to share my passion project with the world!
So here's the plan: A Grandfather's Legacy Project will be the home to my research; I will regularly share what I've uncovered in the family archives; and I'll even ask the public for help at times.
Through this project, I hope to grow as a historian, contribute to the larger narrative of Black Liberation in the Post-Civil Rights Era in the South, empower more people to share their stories, and on a more personal level, connect with my grandfather through the legacy he left behind.
With that being said, feel free to explore the website! You can read a little about me here. Get familiar with my grandfather's story here. And be sure to follow A Grandfather's Legacy Project on Instagram and Twitter for every-day content.
Let's do this!
